Calling All Cowboys And Cowgirls

By Inn on the Riverwalk Posted  In Specials

Buckle up San Antonio and get out your cowboy and cowgirl boots with the hat to match because the Stock Show and Rodeo is coming to town February 8th through the 25th! The rodeo is one of the biggest events in San Antonio as over two million people make their way to the grounds. Some of the schools in the city even take a day or two off for this event! The first annual San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo was held in February of 1950 and has come a long ways since then. The unparalleled success is attributed to over 6,000 volunteers each year. The rodeo is not just about the musical stylings of Blake Shelton or mutton bustin’ but is aimed at shaping the youth of Texas with donations as large as $186 million dollars to scholarships, grants, endowments and different programs.

Live Music Performances

I would say that the main attractions are the evening Live Music Performances. You can buy your evening show tickets for the night that your favorite country singer is preforming. This year, here are a couple of artists making the special trip to San Antonio:

  • Gary Allan
  • Brett Eldredge
  • Josh Abbot
  • Rascal Flatts
  • Goo Goo Dolls
  • Josh Dunham

What Goes On At The Rodeo

Or if you’re apart of the one percent of San Antonio who is not a fan of country music like I am, don’t sweat it because the real fun happens during the day. The rodeo is jam packed with things to do like:

  • Food Court
  • Champion Wine Garden
  • Petting Zoos
  • Horse And Pony Rides
  • Pig Races
  • The Carnival
  • Craft Beer Tap Room
  • Shops

Most of the action on the grounds is kid friendly and makes for a great day with the family. Don’t forget that when you buy your ground tickets you also have admission into the carnival! The carnival has rides that cover the whole spectrum from extreme to mild so patrons of all ages can participate in the fun.
Last but certainly not least, when you buy your tickets to the rodeo think about booking with us here at the Inn on the Riverwalk Bed and Breakfast in the heart of downtown San Antonio. Our Inn is only a short ten minute drive to the AT&T Center where the rodeo is held. So why not have a relaxing stay with us after a long day at the rodeo?

But wait there’s more! When you book with us over the phone and mention this blog, we will give you a discounted rate. So pick up the phone and chat with one of our friendly front desk staff- (210) 225-6333!
