Things to do on Valentines Day

When in San Antonio: Valentines 2018

By Inn on the Riverwalk Posted  In Specials

There are two kinds of people in this world, hopeless romantics and realists. I’ll be preaching to all of you hopeless romantics out there for this upcoming holiday, Valentines Day. So, for the rest of you realists, proceed with caution as this will get mushy. Valentines Day is a day of love, romance, passion, flowers, chocolates and overpriced restaurants with ridiculous small portions for your sweetie. If you find yourself looking for a quiet, relaxing, romantic getaway to make this Valentines Day even more special then I urge you to consider San Antonio, Texas as your Valentines destination. However, I want to go even further and introduce the idea of staying at San Antonio’s best kept secret in the heart of San Antonio: The Inn on the Riverwalk. This spacious and cozy Bed and Breakfast is located in the center of Downtown San Antonio near all the main attractions perfect for a romantic getaway. However, don’t just take my word for it, let me be your guide to all the romance San Antonio can offer with the inside scoop on where to eat and where to go from a proud born and raised San Antonian.

San Antonio Restaurants

Valentines day is great and all but Valentines night is what really matters. The big decision of where to take that special someone for a nice dinner is what the day is all about. There is always the option to stay in and make dinner to try and prove to your girl that you really can make more than just cereal but why leave so much room for things to go wrong and food to be burnt? If you really want to wow someone with the white linen tablecloths and amazing food for this Valentines Day then here are a few places where you just can’t wrong:

  • La Frite Belgium Bistro
  • Chart House
  • Boudro’s
  • Silo Elevated Cuisine and Bar

Each of these fantastic, fancy and flavorful restaurants are walking distance from the Inn on the Riverwalk. Mussels and frites to share with your honey at this Belgium Bistro is a no brainer for this Valentines Day. Or if you want something a little more ‘high in’ (literally) then I recommend Chart House which serves steaks and seafood. In addition, this restaurant is located at the very top of The Tower of Americas which turns ever so slightly just to give you the most dazzling 360-degree view of San Antonio which is truly unforgettable. There is no better way to make this valentines day a memorable one by enjoying a nice meal overlooking the lovely city of San Antonio at sunset. At Boudro’s, there is not a dish I have had that I would not order again. It’s one of those places where you want to try something new every time you go because you know it will be amazing. However, Silo’s chicken fried oysters and long list of cocktails are hard to beat. No matter where you go, as long as you’re in San Antonio it’s pretty tough to find a bad restaurant here downtown. Though, if you’re with the right person it doesn’t matter where you are as long as you’re together.

Things to Do in San Antonio

When you’re not out discovering the delicious food San Antonio has to offer, you ought to be out exploring the city. San Antonio is such an eclectic city with a wide variety of things to see and places to go. From art museums to the lush green Botanical Gardens. Whether you walk to these attractions or rent bikes. What’s more romantic than exploring a city filled with rich history and out of this world Tex- Mex! A couple of places to be sure to check out are:

  • The Botanical Gardens
  • Observation Deck at the Tower of Americas
  • McNay Art Museum
  • Downtown Ghost Tours

In San Antonio, there is never a shortage of things to do. When you’re with your special someone, a quiet stroll through the San Antonio Botanical Gardens are sure to put you both in that Valentines mood. To top it off, you maybe surprise her with a picnic in the thirty- three-acre garden to really rack up some points. If your sweetheart makes you feel like you’re on top of the world then I suggest making the trip to the Observation Deck at the Tower of Americas 597ft up to get the best view of San Antonio there is. Empire State Building, who? Or if you want to make your significant other think you’re sophisticated and artsy, read up on Monet and head on over to the McNay Art Museum. This spectacular mansion holds American and European art and houses pieces by Raoul Dufy, Edgar Degas, Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso, Georgia O’Keeffe and so many more. Taking her to scary movies to get her to come in close is so cliché and overrated. Ghost Tours are moving in and becoming a must for couples. Downtown San Antonio holds the “most haunted hotel in Texas,” The Menger Hotel.

San Antonio has something for every couple. From romantic, candle lit dinners to gardens and ghost tours you just can’t go wrong. All of these places are in proximity to The Inn on the Riverwalk. So if you find yourself in San Antonio, do yourself and your valentine a favor and experience the Inn on The Riverwalk as it is less than a ten minute walk from all the attractions. Our little blue house on the river will make you feel right at home with our hot home- cooked breakfasts and our attentive staff. Even if you’re not from out of town, a little vacation with you and your hubby never hurts. So find a valentines- hating babysitter for the kids and make this Valentines Day a special one.

Last thing, if you book with us at least two nights from the 9th of February 2018 to the 18th we will give your and your sweetie a free carriage ride here downtown! So hurry and call – (210) 225-6333!
